LONDON: Thomas Tuchel says Chelsea will have to face a big battle to finish in the top four of the Premier League after they lost 1-0 at the hands of Arsenal.
Tuchel’s side missed a chance to overtake Leicester in third place after Emile Smith Rowe blasted home the game’s lone goal at Stamford Bridge.
Smith Rowe punished a pass to the back by Jorginho to put Tuchel in fierce competition for a qualifying ticket to next season’s Champions League.
Fourth -placed Chelsea are now six points ahead of fifth -placed West Ham, who have played less than one game and seven points ahead of Liverpool who have played less than two games.
Chelsea still have two games left – against Leicester and Aston Villa.
“It’s a big fight, it’s not a relief yet. If anyone feels like it is today, maybe, it’s the last lesson to be learned.
“It’s still up to us. Another chance is missed. We have some good results, so we have to deal with this defeat,” Tuchel said.
It was Chelsea’s first defeat in eight games after Tuchel made seven changes to the squad that beat Manchester City last Saturday.
