LONDON: Erik Ten Hag has become the top choice to become Manchester United’s new boss after documents were completed against all candidates.
The club have already put together a thorough background check of each of their targets with the Ajax coach said to be at the top of the list.
Ten Hag and former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino are close to each other.
Yet after the club spent weeks completing their paperwork, they now believe the Dutch coach, Ten Hag could be the manager for at least five years-and bring United back to the top of English and European football.
United want to make an announcement before the end of the season so that the new boss can start work ahead of the summer transfer phase.
Thomas Tuchel is one of the new candidates after the problems at Chelsea.
But United are worried about the possibility of a club takeover causing the German coach to remain at Stamford Bridge throughout the summer.
The matter will cause them to have to wait and may be disappointed.
United believe the appointment of Ten Hag, 52, can not only attract players but also keep those who have a future at the club.
