Rooney: Man Utd Players Are Lazy

LONDON: Wayne Rooney slammed Manchester United’s failed stars for showing laziness.

The United legend claimed that too many players did not fulfill their responsibilities on the pitch and lacked guilt during the 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool last Sunday.

The former club captain said: “United players need to question themselves, look at themselves.

“It’s easy for an operator to accept criticism when players are paid expensive salaries to do their job – and I don’t think they do it well.

“The demands at the club are very high, the pressure is also high and I see too many players unwilling to go down, lazy to defend, unwilling to give everything for the club. It is not acceptable at all.

“The responsibilities of these players are big enough. They are world -class players – and a club like Manchester United needs more.

“These players have to feel the pain, feel the pain when they lose – as you can feel,” Rooney said.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now faces a series of tough matches that will determine his future at Old Trafford – starting with a visit to Tottenham tomorrow.

Rooney – United’s top scorer with 253 goals – believes the club’s board already has plans if Soslkjaer is sacked in the near future.

“I know Ole, he’s a fighter, he’s going to keep doing the right thing, keep believing and trying to get the best results from the players,” the Derby manager said.
