MANCHESTER: Cristiano Ronaldo returned to real form when he blasted a hat-trick as Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-2 in the Premier League last Saturday.

The 59th hat-trick in the Portuguese legend’s career was the second for United and the first in 14 years after his return to Old Trafford last August.

United’s focus is now on the Champions League last 16 rematch against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford tomorrow after they drew 1-1 in the first leg in Madrid.

Ronaldo’s stellar performance in helping United on the European stage and the Champions League is the last chance for Ralf Rangnick’s squad to chase the trophy this season.

Ronaldo scored six goals at the group stage and helped United avoid relegation before the knockout stages for the second season in a row.

Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford also depends on whether United are able to remain competitive in the Champions League next season.

For Atletico, the clash with Ronaldo is no stranger as they have been knocked out five times in the knockout stages against the team they represent – twice when they lost in the final to Real Madrid. –
