LONDON: Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka will not join the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Poland.
England kicked off their 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win over San Marino at Wembley last Thursday.
Rashford and Saka did not play in the match and the English Football Association confirmed that they also missed two more games this month.
England travel to Tirana tomorrow and face Poland at Wembley on Wednesday – the last game before manager Gareth Southgate lists a squad for this year’s European Championship.
“Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka will not take part in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Rashford reported himself to St. George’s Park with an injury that caused him to miss out on a 5-0 win over San Marino and, after further evaluation, it was decided he would continue his recovery with Manchester United.
“Saka remains at Arsenal for further examination in the hope of joining The Three Lions but now he is unable to play in matches against Albania and Poland,” the English FA said.
Arsenal teenager Saka made his debut for England against Wales in October and collected three caps after that.
Rashford has only made two appearances in England’s eight games this year and was rested after a foot injury that also left him missing the FA Cup quarter -finals which United lost to Leicester.
