MANCHESTER: Manchester United are ready to spend big to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford.

Coach Ralf Rangnick has reportedly been in talks with the Norwegian striker’s father, former English Premier League (EPL) star Alf-Inge, who became his best friend when he was at RB Salzburg.

The Borussia Dortmund striker reportedly has a 65 million pound (RM362.58 million) release clause in his current contract.

United have also been linked with two other players in Rangnick’s bid to revamp the squad’s midfield ahead of next month’s transfer window.

Leipzig RB player Amadou Haidara is said to be returning to reunite with his former boss, while Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara is also close to reaching an agreement with the club.

United star Cristiano Ronaldo previously doubted Haaland’s ability as a great striker.

While Haaland has made the Portuguese star his idol, Ronaldo said Haaland needs to prove his mettle by playing brilliantly for a long period of time, not just one or two seasons.
