PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have announced that they have signed Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
The 34-year-old flew to Paris to finalize a deal with hundreds of fans flocking to the local airport to greet the star.
Messi’s arrival was announced, today, after speculation involving the player sparked a stir in European football.
PSG confirmed signing Messi by sharing a video on social media, which showed Messi donning an Argentine jersey and six Ballon d’Or awards.
PSG loyalists arrived at Le Bourget airport today, to see the football legend.
Many fans were also waiting at the Parc des Princes Stadium and several streets in Paris when Messi appeared in the French capital.
The four-time Champions League winner waved to his supporters at Le Bourget airport.
Messi’s contract has not yet been officially announced, but it is believed that the deal involves a period of two years with a third year option.
Messi’s father Jorge reportedly confirmed the transfer by telling the media: “Leo will sign a contract with PSG today.”
