LONDON: Rio Ferdinand believes Kylian Mbappe is in his own league and will take over the throne from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Paris Saint-Germain player scored a hat-trick as they beat Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League at the Camp Nou.
Barca led the game through a Lionel Messi penalty but the PSG striker equalized in the 32nd minute.
He then put his team ahead and completed a hat-trick in the second half after Moise Kean made it 3-1.
According to Ferdinand, Mbappe proved that he is ready for the big match and ahead of any of the best young players in the world at the moment.
“Mbappe in his own league, in many young players he is far ahead.
“People forgot that he was just 22 years old, with the World Cup title and what he did in the French League as well as the Champions League, he was amazing.
“I think he will take the throne from Messi and Ronaldo after their era ends. At the moment he has no rivals,” Ferdinand said.
