MANCHESTER: Manchester United have been told they can take advantage of Liverpool as the two teams clash on Sunday.
Former Reds midfielder Jason McAteer claims that Jurgen Klopp’s squad is in a ‘fragile’ state after showing bad performances recently.
United beat Liverpool for the top spot in the league after a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad could strengthen their position as title contenders as the two teams meet on Merseyside.
But former Liverpool player McAteer has warned that Liverpool will not panic if they lose to the main challenger this week.
He told FreeSuperTips: “If Manchester United go to Anfield on Sunday and beat Liverpool, the Premier League title is not won in January, so I don’t think there is much panic around Liverpool.
“Liverpool are in a fragile state and not in a great performance.
“This is because they are tired physically and mentally when the squad suffered so many injuries.
“One thing that worries me about Manchester United is that even though they do not have the best or greatest team in the squad, in terms of defense they are very vulnerable.
“They have the worst defensive record out of 11 teams, conceding 24 goals.
“But they still got good results, just like they did in the win over Burnley which benefited them.
“Manchester United have not suffered any major injuries this season.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjær can always choose from a large group of players and not lose key players like Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Fred.”
