MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Harry Maguire may not be able to play in the Europa League final.
The defender has played fully in every Premier League action since moving to Manchester United from Leicester in 2019.
But the United captain had to be sent off with 15 minutes left in Villa Park, where the Red Devils bounced back to beat Aston Villa 3-1.
The 28 -year -old was seen enduring pain in the ankle of his left foot, and after receiving treatment he returned to play for a while before falling back.
He was replaced by Eric Bailly and after the match, Solskjaer revealed the possibility of the United captain not being able to play in the Europa League final later this month.
“I hope he recovers before the Europa League final, I’m not sure.
“We need to check it out. Maybe a few weeks or a month, we don’t know yet.
“It’s in the ankle. I think the player fell on it and it sprained,” Solskjaer said.
United advanced to the final after beating Roma in the semi -finals last Thursday and will face Villarreal on May 26.
