LIVERPOOL: Liverpool have been crowned the Premier League champions after Chelsa beat Manchester City earlier this morning and ended the club’s 30-year wait.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have secured their 19th title for the club with seven games remaining this season following the loss of second-placed City, who have lost 23 points.
Liverpool are just two points away for the title after taking a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield earlier this morning.
Liverpool, who had to wait longer to claim the title after a three-month suspension following the COVID-19 pandemic, needed help as they beat City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Willian’s penalty kicked in the 78th minute after Fernandinho’s ball was knocked out of City’s two-season reign.
Earlier, Chelsea opened the scoring through Christian Pulisic in the 36th minute before Kevin De Bruyne equalized for City 55th.
“It was a thrilling 100 minutes to watch the match between City and Chelsea.
“It’s a great achievement for my players and as a coach I’m happy to coach them.
“I haven’t waited 30 years, I’ve been here for four and a half years but it’s still a great achievement especially after three months of rest and no one knows if the rivalry will continue or not,” Klopp said.
