BERLIN: Robert Lewandowski is now on track to win the Ballon d’Or.
The Polish striker blasted home the winner in the 75th minute for Bayern Munich against SC Freiburg and collected 23 Bundesliga goals this season.
It was also the 33-year-old’s 60th goal since the beginning of the year with 10 games to go.
The last player to score that many goals in a year was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014 – scoring 61 goals that year after scoring 69 goals in 2013.
However, both players are still far behind Lionel Messi – who scored 91 goals in 2012.
Bayern’s 2-1 win was enough to propel them to the top of the Bundesliga.
Lewansdowski has positioned himself as the best candidate for the Ballon d’Or award on November 29.
