BARCELONA: Ronald Koeman praised Marc-Andre ter Stegen who saved the attempt during Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Elche.
The Barca operator said they were lucky to have a goalkeeper with such quality.
The Catalan giants led 1-0 thanks to Frenki de Jong’s goal with Ter Stegen denying attempt by striker Elche Emiliano Rigoni at the start of the second half.
Barca confirmed victory with a late goal from Riqui Puig, but Koeman felt his goalkeeper contribution was significant in the match.
“They don’t have a chance – they have a chance and it stems from a big mistake by our defense.
“But Ter Stegen is very efficient in one-on-one situations. Fortunately we have great goalkeepers, as they will probably equalize.
“In defense, in addition to that mistake, we played well. We deserved to win,” Koeman said.
Barca are currently third in La Liga, 10 points behind leaders Atletico Madrid who play less than one game.
