LONDON: Bruno Fernandes says Manchester United must respect Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision if he wants to leave the club.
Fernandes has been in contact with his compatriot since he withdrew from the pre -season tour due to family problems.
Ronaldo wants to leave but there is still no offer from a club he believes could take him to compete in the Champions League next season.
Fernandes said: “I don’t want to get involved in that situation, obviously we have to respect anyone’s decision.
“I don’t know what Cristiano said to the club, to the manager, I don’t know what was in his head, but we have to respect the space he has.
“I just asked Cristiano, when will he be back, is his family OK.
“He told me what happened, that’s all, nothing else.”
Ronaldo was United’s top scorer last season with 24 goals and new boss Erik ten Hag insists he wants the player to stay at the club.
