LONDON: England captain Harry Kane expects the Euro 2020 final against Italy early Monday morning when Malaysia is very intense as both teams are equally strong.
England and Italy clashed at Wembley to grab the European crown after each struggled through the campaign this time around.
Italy, who are also four -time world champions who last won the Euros in 1968, started well at the group stage before struggling to overtake Austria, Belgium and Spain en route to the final.
England won the group stage by scoring just two goals, but Gareth Southgate’s men dominated the knockout stages when overcoming Germany, Ukraine and Denmark.
Kane believes both teams deserve the title, but he is confident England have enough quality to win the European Championship for the first time.
“I think it’s a 50-50 match. Of course Italy have a better history than us in winning tournaments, but many of us on this team have experience at club level playing in big matches, major finals.
“It was a tough match. We believe with what we have done and the journey we have gone through so far, of course we are confident of winning it.
“In any final, in any important match, you have to be perfect in all aspects. We are aware of this Sunday’s challenge and I hope we can make it ours,” Kane said.
If England win their first trophy since the 1966 World Cup, Kane deserves to be in the same group as The Three Lions icon, Bobby Moore who lifted the World Cup trophy 55 years ago.
