PORTO: Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne broke his nose and injured his eye in the Champions League final against Chelsea, early this morning.
However, it is unclear whether the injury will affect his chances of playing with Belgium for the Euro 2020 Championship.
The 29 -year -old suffered the injury after colliding with Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.
Both the team and the supporters looked worried when De Bruyne couldn’t get up and looked uncomfortable.
City’s medical team continued to rush into the pitch and Kyle Walker knelt next to De Bruyne as he received treatment.
De Bruyne confirmed the extent of his injury via Twitter upon completing ‘my diagnosis there was an acute live bone injury and a fracture in the left orbital region. I feel better now.’
“Very disappointed with yesterday’s result but we will bounce back.”
De Bruyne’s fate to the Euro Championship is uncertain as the competition will start in two weeks and Belgium’s first match against Russia on June 12.
However, the midfielder can still train and stay fit by wearing a face mask to protect his injury.
