LONDON: Chelsea’s hopes of signing Erling Haaland seem to have faded this summer and now their radar is focused on bringing out Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
The reigning Champions League champions want to bring in a prolific player to wear the No. 9 jersey, with Timo Werner appearing to struggle in front of goal as Haaland is their main target.
But Borrussia Dortmund cleverly manipulated the bid and may offer £ 175 million for the striker before insisting Haaland was not for sale.
The decision made Chelsea re -formulate their needs and reportedly will choose the Bundesliga’s top scorer, Lewandowski.
The Poland international enjoyed a phenomenal campaign last season when he broke Gerd Muller’s record with 41 goals.
Despite turning 33 next month, Tuchel considers the player in the attacking machinery as his best option based on the experience possessed by the front -line player.
But Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern only expires in 2023 and the German champions will certainly find it difficult to let go of the player with an offer that will be opened perhaps around 50 million pounds.
The former Dortmund striker once said he was ready to test his abilities in the English Premier League (EPL) and might enjoy a move to west London.
