LONDON: Arsenal will host Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium for English Premier League (EPL) action early tomorrow morning Malaysian time.
The clash between the two English giants, however, is not as usual where Liverpool are currently seventh in the league and Arsenal ninth, and two points separate them.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were previously tied 3-3 against West Ham, while Jurgen Klopp’s men beat Wolvehampton Wanderers 1-0. The last time Arsenal went without a goal was when they tied Manchester United 0-0 in January.
In the next 12 games, the Gunners failed to ensure their goal was not missed.
Arsenal also advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, but fell 1-0 down at the hands of Olympiacos in the first leg and the chances of reaching the semi-finals looked difficult.
Only a Europa League win will take Arsenal to the Champions League stage next season, with the chances of chasing a place in the EPL’s top four seem impossible as they are now nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Defending champions Liverpool’s chances of joining the European elite team next season are by winning the tournament this season.
Liverpool have a 4-0 aggregate advantage over RB Leipzig in the last 16 of the Champions League, but will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals if they can maintain that advantage.
Chance lineup: Arsenal – Leno, Bellerin, Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Pepe, Odegaard, Aubameyang, Lacazette
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
